Huge momentum for Nasuni

Nasuni, a leader in global file services, took time during the recent IT Press Tour to update us on the company 2020 results and also on 2021 perspective with some interesting new stuff coming.

Positioned to address unstructured data challenges with an approach that spans primary and secondary storage, the company presents a 97% customer retention, generates $100M ARR with more than 125PB under management and 26.7 billions files.

Nasuni really drives a new category with its Global File Services promoted as Nasuni Cloud File Storage. Other companies are CTERA Networks, Cohesity, Talon Storage now NetApp but also FlexCache, Morro Data and some coming from WAFS historical wave.

The team has developed a pretty unique approach with 5 key elements:
  1. UniFS, a limitless file system layered on cloud object storage,
  2. Edge caching entities deployed as physical or virtual appliances for a local access to central data,
  3. Management console to centrally control dispersed machines,
  4. Orchestration Center as the central brain for locking, versioning and multi-region support and
  5. Analytics Connector as the translation layer between UniFS and each object storage back-end, leveraging also some cloud-based services like AI or search.
Nasuni has also implemented an innovative active/active global lock mechanism available per region as it is linked to the cloud providers. The product has demonstrated a very level of availability, sure it relies also on cloud providers availability, but the service is very strong delivering one of the best answers to finally a common request today.

And to conclude, Nasuni is listed in Coldago Map 2020 for File Storage as challenger and has made its entry to the Storage Unicorn Club.
