Cask joins Google

A few days following the Velostrata acquisition intent by Google, Cask Data is announcing similar destiny within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and we understand that Google accelerates data and workloads move and migration towards GCP.

Founded in 2011 in Palo Alto with a total of $37.5M raised in 5 VC rounds, Cask develops an open source unified platform for Hadoop and Spark named Cask Data Application Platform (CDAP), released under the Apache 2.0 license model. The platform idea is to simplify, standardize and provide potential portability between environments originally started as on-premise deployments.

At the same time Twitter announced a partial move of its giant Hadoop environments and cold data storage to GCP. Already an AWS user, Twitter doesn't replace AWS. We also saw that Atos and Google signed recently a strategic partnership for hybrid cloud. All these news clearly show a strong offensive in favor of GCP.
