WekaIO adds key security features

WekaIO, a emerging leader in high performance file system for technical environments, continues to improve MatrixFS, its distributed parallel file system.

Distributed parallel file system are not new and products built around Lustre and IBM Spectrum Scale aka GPFS are well know in HPC but WekaIO has shaken that space with a new design that leverages flash. To boost performance and go beyond NFS limitations and disk-based approaches, the parallel architecture was and still is a answer to satisfy performance needs. With Flash and parallel model, WekaIO delivers an ew level of performance, pretty unique on the market, beating several times records such SPEC SFS 2014.

WekaIO continues its journey to extend its file system towards general-purpose need to penetrate the enterprise. To sustain this strategy, the company adds security features with:
  • Encryption at-rest and in-transit between client and data servers,
  • Authenticated mounts to add new level of security and strengthen data access protection,
  • Partition Key to secure group of machines and then isolate data usage,
  • Integration with directory services such LDAP and Active Directory,
  • ACLs support across NFS, SMB and POSIX,
  • Of course quotas and the ability to create multiple file systems instead of one big one,
  • and finally snapshot to S3 for data protection but also off-load processing.
