Fungible unveils its 4.0 software release

Fungible, a leader in Data Processing Unit, just announced its major release 4.0 of the software for its Storage Cluster. Introduced a few months ago, the Fungible Storage Cluster aka FSC is an all-Flash NVMe over TCP disaggregated storage array that leverages the Fungible DPU. This platform can be connected to the Fungible Storage Initiator being a host integrated DPU to offload CPU and build a dedicated storage network using TCP/IP.

Thanks to its DPU approach, Fungible delivers a super fast network erasure coding (EC) protection technique. With the new 4.0 release, EC can be setup with just 3 FS1600 storage nodes supporting a simple efficient 2+1 schema.

Also in FSC 4.0, the team has added volume without any protection, this new volume is aligned with some database engines such Cassandra who embeds its own protection mechanism. Thus, it avoids double protection that consumes too much space. This new software iteration also offers compression and encryption for these RF1 volumes.

The company continues to iterate it software development and we expect some acceleration soon with key partnerships.
