Lucidity, a fast growing ISV dedicated to cloud storage optimization, is the developer of AutoScaler, its first product, tailored to online disk capacity management.
The solution supports the 3 cloud providers giants AWS, Azure and GCP and monitors continuously the configuration, then decides to reduce and eliminate empty space without downtime.
This technique relies on agent deployed with each VM, operating outside of the data path, and coupled with central SaaS intelligence. It means that agent failure doesn't impact production just temporarily on space usage monitoring and actionable decision. On Linux environments, AutoScaler leverages Btrfs with its concept of sub-volumes following a conversion phase if needed. On Windows, the product uses NTFS but the vast majority of installation are Linux based. Don't be confused, AutoScaler is not a disk manager but rather a layer of supervision on top of it. We have also seen other competitors like Datafy or Zesty, two Israeli companies, validating the model and the need.
AutoScaler exists in 3 editions:
- Community Edition with one central SaaS management console,
- Private Edition limited to 1 cloud provider,
- and Self hosting Edition.
The pricing model is simple, it is $60/TB managed/month for the 1st edition.
Vatsal Rastogi, co-founder, said at the recent IT Press Tour briefing earlier this June, that users come for savings and stay for automation.
